DBT Skills Group: Foundations

This skills-based group teaches practical strategies drawn from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help participants improve emotional regulation, reduce distress, strengthen relationships, and build greater stability in daily life. Sessions follow a classroom-style format focused on learning and practicing core DBT skills in a structured, educational environment. An adapted version of the standard DBT model is used to better accommodate diverse neurotypes and cultural experiences.

This is not a processing group.

While real-life examples may be used to support learning, the primary focus is skill acquisition, practice, and application. Participants are expected to actively practice skills during group and use them to support effective communication, regulation, and participation. The group includes guided exercises, discussion, and homework-style practice to help members apply skills outside of sessions. No prior DBT experience is required.

This group is best suited for individuals who are actively ready to make changes and willing to practice skills both within and outside of sessions.
