Carole Showell, LCSW, CCTP, CCATP

I (she/her) am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience supporting individuals navigating complex trauma, PTSD, mood disorders, and anxiety-related disorders. My approach to therapy is collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in social work values of social justice, dignity, and worth of the person. Therapy is most effective when adopting a “whole person” approach that attends to mental health, physical health, and, if desired, spiritual health. My role is to offer support, skills, and practical tools that align with your goals and vision for personal growth.

My therapeutic approach is primarily rooted in evidence-based treatments that are adapted and individualized to meet the needs of each client. It is best suited for individuals who prefer solutions-focused treatment and actionable steps that lead to measurable progress, rather than traditional talk therapy. I am a Certified Prolonged Exposure Therapist and Consultant, EMDR Certified Therapist, Advanced DBT Therapist, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional. These specialties allow me to help clients build insight, regulate emotions, develop healthier relationships, and address trauma in ways that feel manageable and empowering.

My clinical work is also deeply informed by my own lived experience as a person with complex trauma, autism, and ADHD. I understand firsthand the importance of accessible, affirming, and practical support—especially for those who have felt misunderstood or overlooked in traditional care settings.

In addition to therapy, I offer clinical supervision to mental health professionals, including specialized supervision for those pursuing certification in Prolonged Exposure Therapy. My supervision style is supportive, collaborative, and grounded in a commitment to clinical integrity, professional growth, and anti-oppressive practice.

I received my BA in Psychology with a minor in Art History from Temple University in 2004 and I received my Master in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania in 2014. I am currently working towards a Certificate in Neuroscience (with a focus on the impact of trauma on the brain) from the University of Pennsylvania LPSOnline program. I am also working towards an Advanced Clinical Supervisor certification through the Telehealth Certification Institute.
